Fishing Goals For 08'!
Keeperreaper started a similar thread in boating so my apologies if I am stealing his thunder but many don't go there!
So what are your fishing related goals for 2008?! New places you want to fish? Set a personal best? Perhaps catch fish of a different species for the first time?
I have a few.....my quest for a striper over 40 continues...so I hope to end that......and it comes on wood! A striper over 30 pounds on topwater! Would like to fish Block Island, maybe Montauk! Cuttyhunk is already on the schedule...again! I guess I will be fishing the canal a little?
Best of luck to my fellow fishermen.....may your fishing aspirations come true in 08'!

No thunder stolen. My goals for '08 are as follows.
Learn more techniques/applications to catch fish consistently.
Get another 50 this time from shore.
Break the 40 pound mark from the canal.
Fish with some new people from the board.
Enjoy my fishing time with my daughter.
Learn Rhody a lot better than I know it now.

BFT and 48.5lb Striped Bass or better from the kayak. Finding and landing a Mahi in New England would be a bonus.

I fished a ton this year and learned so much in 07. I guess a goal for me would be to keep the momentum going and try to learn even more in 08.

I busted my a$$ last winter to be in shape for fishing in 07 and what a HUGE difference it made with my shoulder and back strength plus my stamina. I remember working out on the eliptical machine and free weights thinking of all of the tough places to fish and also throwing 4.5 oz jigs in the canal all night....my shoulders and back felt great all season long.

I have talked with a buddy of mine, in the past few seasons, to make some trips. With my son being older, now, I think I can make this work.

My goals:
Find a few spots closer to my new home (Melrose MA)
As someone said earlier unlock the needle
Learn a few Canal spots
Work at all aspects just to become more consistent
Stay healthy
Try to get a better balance between fishing, wife, job etc. Basically try to fish more but not slow my productivity in the other areas.
Meet and fish with some of the guys from this board.

Absolutley happen - fish where you've been fishing and switch over to a Tattoo spook after the first hints of purple in the early morning sky - Haven't had a 30 that way yet but I've had a few mid-upper 20s and I'm almost NEVER out at sunrise. The explosions on that spook are freakin' amazing that early in the morning

still hunting for that first fish over 36" lol. hopefully not on a chunk.
mostly meet new people, find new spots, learn new things. same as every year. upping my wood collection can be added. also finding that magical rapala. though it's proving harder than i thought. i've searched every where and just can't find one. i'm going to have to have some one make me a knock off.
edit: welp i can scratch finding the rapala off the list. i just found a couple. going to have to order them from over seas though. as the are the only ones i can find. no dealers in the u.s. seem to carry the color i want.
