The peepers, when they get a chorus going, sound like the giant ants in that old sci-fi movie "THEM".

As of cane toads, I am thankful we don't have that problem anywhere in the US, since they are poisonous to anything that "tries" to eat them.

Well after weeks of deafening concert like peeping, heard only one or two tonight. Looks like they are gonna have to settle for sloppy seconds.

I just went out and could hear peepers in the distance. Also noticed the first sign of night crawlers in the grass. Still too cold for them to be too active and definitely skidish.

I saw tons of night crawlers just last weekend, granted I did flip my septic cap over

I saw a frog hopping across the street last Saturday and thought it was pretty early. Tonight, I heard the peepers when I got home. I hate those things.

I just got in from having a cigar and glass of Dansk outside and the things were peepin' up a storm. I don't mind the sound so much as the things invading my lawn and pool every spring. They sound just like their name implies.

I thought I saw a frog/toad or something last week. I was pretty sure but then convinced myself it may have been a little early and maybe a leaf. Now I'm pretty sure. It is early but that's ok with me. Leaves don't hop

We noticed the tulips yesterday but I haven't heard the peepers yet. Tulips and daffodils.

Sounds I love:
  • Peepers
  • Osprey screeching over a creek filled with splashing herring.
  • Loons on Echo Lake
  • The cacophony of sounds emanating from the Costa Rican rainforest
  • Herring gulls
  • Bullfrogs bellowing in the night
  • Crashing surf
  • Screaming drag
  • Water filling my snorkel
  • The clanging of bell buoys on a foggy night
  • The alarm clock – when it’s time to go fishing/diving
Sounds I hate:
  • Airplanes
  • Traffic
  • ATVs
  • Leaf Blowers
  • Assorted industrial sounds
  • Bell buoys that have replaced their bells with an electronic noise that sounds like you’ve left your car door open
  • Alarm clock when it’s time to go to work

Some sounds I like:

The sound of a fish hitting a surface lure, be it fresh or salt water.

When a small plane flies over on a quiet day. It's that light droning sound that hits me.

The call of a mocking bird. They can and will mimic any sound that cathces their ear. I once heard one mimic a cat meow on the tip-top of a maple tree, or another time when I heard one mimic a lawnmower.

one last favorite sound (which I do miss here at work) was our old fax machine. When a fax was coming in, it made the identical sound as the channel marker at the entrance to Duxbury Bay. I could here this sound wafting across the bay on a foggy night while fishing the Powderpoint Bridge. The fax machine would pop that memeory into my head all year long, and I loved it.

Sound that I hate Traffic and automobile noises, sirens, sreeching tires, etc....
Loud radios playing unintelligible rap music, cause it really all does sound exactly the same, and it's generally junk music to begin with.
Personally, I hate drunks, no matter what I am doing. I grew up with an alcoholic dad (who did quit) and I don't need to relive those memories EVER.

In Vermont I haven't heard peepers yet, but the birds are going crazy. Lots of geese returning to Champlain and walking to work this morning I counted 7 cardinals singing away. And a few crocuses in bloom.

also for me it is the song from robins siting high in a tree as the sun is getting low in the sky. Sound is so spring.
I listened last nite when i got home from work but no peepers yet in my neck of the swampy woods although with all this rain they probably drowned.

A solitary peeper heard tonight while having a butt.... Dates have been pretty consistant here year over year. Even with these cold nights.

the res still has ICE

no peepers yet here because its colder ,24 degrees
i still have snow.... temps ramp up after today tho... SPRING

they are the first line of defense against mosquito's
before the bats (populations severely diminished)
and the flying (eat bugs out of the air) birds arrive.

keep in mind that the skeeters have up to ten disease's now
adequate vitamin B1 in your diet deters them

as they TASTE your skin before dippin the straw for blood
and when they taste the vitamin B1 they fly away
