Larry ,,, Don't LQQK !!!
AVATAR,,, I finally saw it .. I must admit I wasn't thrilled about seeing a 3 hour cartoon .. not for me .. With out a clue I went to a 3D showing . I didn't know you could choose . They show the movie in 3D and you can also go to a show thats not in 3D. I put the glasses on ,, got this queasy feeling and thought for a moment ,,This is gonna suc .. I gotta tell you 3 hrs. went by pretty fast and the 3d was great .. I liked it and do recommend 3D veiwing.. 3D is way better than it use to be ..

Avatar No 1 for 6 weeks, ready to blow by Titanic for largest grossing film ever.
Tagger: did you IMAX 3D or standard theater 3D? IMAX 3D surely is best.

It could have happened or just about to happen, I saw Avatar was within about $2M of Titanic's gross.

So we know that Larry's $12 did not help Avatar becoming the highest $ grossing film ever. I'll bet the time to reach this milestone was much faster with Avatar (what only 7 weeks) that for Titanic?

On the radio today they were saying that if they "AVERAGE" the amount taken in by the particular time frame the movie came out (or something to that effect)......Avatar would only be 26th all time with "Gone With The Wind" number 1! Titanic was #6 and Jaws #7......Star Wars #2!

It's been about two weeks since I've seen Avatar, and, though it was well worth the money, a fantastic visual experience, it has pretty well faded for me. Dances with wolves, to which it has been compared message-wise, still haunts me. I can watch a rerun of Dances and still get the fresh impact, visuals, message, acting, the whole nine yards. I have no interest in seeing Avatar again, but if I did, the only thing I'd want to see again is all those wildly imaginative scenic visuals.

There seems to be some difference in numbers:
(this data is from 5th week)
Avatar's total stands at a monumental $504.9 million in 32 days, making it the fastest picture to cross the $500 million mark. The Dark Knight did it in 45 days, while Titanic took 98 days (or 50 days adjusted for ticket price inflation).
At the foreign box office, Avatar continued to rage, blazing past the $1 billion mark in record time and delivering the biggest fifth week gross ever.

The report I heard as I said Phil.....somehow they averaged the ticket prices against the total number of sales for the years the movies came out...................for example Avatar has the dollar benefit of todays prices against say Star Wars ticket prices from 1977! Just reporting what I heard....could care less......I am just entertaining Eastendlou!

Larry, I'm just entertaining you as you seem to have been drawn into another thread on AVATAR! This one should be good for what 25-50 posts on your way to 19,000.

I think he did not like the monster in that flick looked too much like a bluefish.

My 83 year old mother joined the Avatar fan club. Every day sitting at home waiting for the box with all the movie swag in it. She is the bell of the building for going.
