One of the big problems with wind vs nuclear/coal is that when a traditional energy plant goes down, they pay hefty fines (when its not scheduled) . The traditional energy companies are crying foul with all the breaks that wind energy gets. Lets just say, its not windy today, no problem, we'll go rely on the nuclear plant. Its creating an argument in the long run.
I have to say, the whole wind thing reaks of payoffs.
Not that I'm against wind. There has to be a way to get off fossil fuels.
We just need to iron out the logistics.

Already might be getting smaller. However, leave it to the state of MA to buy half of what apprently looks like over-priced power, not consideriing potential state benefits that are TBD.

thats my dad's argument towards the winds farms: who the hell is guna repair these things when they break down in the near future? That was his only concern, not against the idea, or the sacred grounds they reside upon, or the fact that its guna ruin the view(lol god damn oyster harbors former employer)

which i find kinda rediculous because its that type of skilled labor that is NEEDED in a healthy economy, and i can't imagine that a person in that particular field wouldnt jump on the opprotunity to work on that type of large scale endeavor. But thats just me talking i have no base of reference

We need to end the fossil fule jones now and start integrating alternative energy. period

Need to look close at your electric bill, at the energy cost not the total cost. On my present bill the electric energy itself cost is 7.9 cents per KW. Another 8.9 cents per KW for delivery and taxes. Total cost is 16.8 cents per KW at the house.

The Seabrook Nuclear plant sells power to the grid for about 4 to 5 cents a KW. Coal plants in the mid west sell power for 3 cents to the grid. So if Cape wind is getting 18.7 cents per KW that is about 4 times what other power cost. The Northeast already has the most expensive electricity in the US, out in the mid west they pay about 9 cents a KW at their house.

Wind is fine but America needs large scale 24 hour a day power plants. In another 20 years most of the present generation nuclear plants will be shutting down. I don't see 100 new nuclear units being built due to the cost. We will have no choice but to build large scale coal plants because we won't have the money to build anything else. We will need natural gas for other purposes.
