Fluted Needles, painted and epoxied
Heres my new needle design, finally painted and epoxied.
they were in around 2.4 oz with a 3/0 belly and dressed 6/0 siwash, sink very slow, and almost completely level.
will make a cool eel skin plug too.

Heres the close up of the last pic.
The needles are sprayed green pearl and purple pearl, a few are green on the sides, purple on top and bottom, then some are reversed and some are sprayed spotty with both colors.
Looks really cool in person, as it changes colors.
All spray cans as usual.

Chris-
Cool needles. You may be onto something here. The ridges will create more turbulence as they go thru the water... this may make them more interesting to the fish...
Nice paint...

Nice looking plugs, are you now the Pied Piper of plugs with you flute(ing)? Maybe they'll attract fish the way the piper attracted rats..hope I'm remembering my fairy tales correctly.

Very cool design. Nice job on the paint, especially the crackle green one!

You might turn and weight some the same, but without flutes, then alternate while fishing them to see what effects the flutes have. It would be interesting to hear the result

indeed. I'm dubious as to what affect the flutes would have at the crawl that needles are usually fished at.

I'm hoping the flutes do a few things:
Add more wake to the needle and send out more vibrations
Double as an eel skin plug.
As also my buddy had a theory that the flutes might make a fish hold on longer or hit harder as it might feel like the plug is moving, trying to get away.
It does generate some bubbles when twitched.
The name is still undecided. Maybe the DP needle: dual purpose, get your minds out of the gutter!!!
Yeah I'm going to plugfest.

Already got some non fluted but weighted the same in the works.
Was planning on doing the side to side comparison.
Last year I rotated between an ss, after hours and bm wad, was interesting to see how one would do over the other.

Ribbed not fluted.... being an amateur furniture maker I have to correct the terminology on Chef Chris's needle. Grooves that go lengthwise are flutes and grooves that go around the circumference are called ribs or beads.
As the Trojan package says about their ribbed product... for her added pleasure... Chris will have to report back on the data he collects using this ribbed needle

Love the lobster one!
Guess these are what you mentioned when you said it might change the way we think of needles!
