Sorry for your loss Kevin. Stay focused on the happy moments , a life well lived. Cry when it comes over you. Laugh when you remember fun things. There's a whole range of memories and emotions to let run their course.

Hi,
after having lost my dad this early August...I can tell you that we process events as we go...meaning certain things will trigger and cause either a joyful memory or a painful or troubling one...

when I think about it, kinda sums up how life is...

try and hang in there, embrace any and all good memories and allow any feelings you have to be natural...do not try and "feel" anything...just let what is - be what is...that is part of the grieving process...

Thoughts and prayers sent...
Ernie

They can and will happen months, even years, afterwards.

My dad passed away in November of 1981. My daughter was born on May 17, 1990. I thought his death was behind me. A month or so after she was born, it was Father's Day. Grief over his death hit me like a brick, as it was the first time that Father's Day mattered since he passed away.

My mom lived to a ripe old age of 91. She finally passed away last January (2011). We grieved, but having her for 91 years and celebrating a birthday days before her death eased the pain. Then, in November, our church had an All Saints Day service for people who had died during the year. I gave the pastor her name to be read aloud. As they read each name, they rang the church's bell once. When they got to her name, I lost it. It was that darn bell.

Treasure these moments when they happen. Let the emotions flow. Don't fight them. It's not unmanly to cry. They live on in our hearts.

Wise men speak because they have something to say; Fools, because they have to say something.

My condolences Kevin.

The grieving process is a very long and bumpy road, but it will smooth out.

Kevin, I had the same thing happen to me. Brought her to the hospital for a simple out-patient procedure and my brothers business partner called me and said she died on the table.

The only advice I have is to trust in God.

T&P sent.

I stopped at the trout stream I fished incessantly as a kid this morning to have a cup of coffee and clear my head. My mother was an avid birder, and one of her favorites was hummingbirds- she was always calling me after she saw one at her feeders.

In my twenty seven years of life, I've never seen a hummingbird in Pennsylvania. But when I sat down next to my favorite pool, one materialized, fed on the flowers next to me, flitted around me and took off.

I think it was her way of saying everything would be all right. Thank you all for your support.

Thoughts, prayers and hope you have many visits from hummingbirds.
