End of their life only because they were caught. End of their life in the same way a 53 year old guy on this board is at the end of their life. Natural life expectancy for a striped bass is 30 years. 52" and 53" fish are approximately 19 years old. They have almost 40% of their life expectancy remaining. They are rare because ~half the bass in the legal age classes are removed each year. Kill less catch more.
