End of their life only because they were caught. End of their life in the same way a 53 year old guy on this board is at the end of their life. Natural life expectancy for a striped bass is 30 years. 52" and 53" fish are approximately 19 years old. They have almost 40% of their life expectancy remaining. They are rare because ~half the bass in the legal age classes are removed each year. Kill less catch more.

No, no, no. we’re 30… 30, three zero.

How many 53 year old women are in the Prime of their Reproductive life?

There is no evidence of a decrease in fecundity in 20 year old class striped bass relative to smaller fish. They still produce millions more viable eggs than smaller fish. 200 years go, a human woman would rarely outlive fertility. Human women release one egg at a time. A 53" fish released could produce tens of millions of viable eggs over the remainder of its life. The science is clear. There are a lot of reasons put out there for killing bigger fish, but they are pretty much never supported by science.
