I always use something called ferrule cement. You heat it with a match, candle, torch or whatever and apply it like a pencil over the rod and stick the tip on. I know gudegrod makes one. I have some other brand that I have had around for years and it still works well. I don't know if you will be able to get it off with epoxy. With the heat up types I have used if you want to replace with a better one later, you just heat it up again and it slides off.
I am about to fix my shimano fightin rod that lost it's tip in a closet door......
