Howdy

I may show up a little more now that john has taken steps to protect people from the vast array of internet nasties!! Good move john now there can be no "guessing" as to who says what!!

On another note,Providence is as good if not better than the thames river in CT.I have fished both places and without a boat you may as well stay away from the thames!! The fish are "stacked" in deep water there and you can only reach them with a boat.

Providence however is easy to fish from shore and I have had 70+fish nights there in the winter! Most are small micro bass but there are alwayes a few better fish in the mix,December is good and january is even better....Small jigs are all you need and time of day makes no difference,You can catch fish there in a blizzard!! the power plant pushes out plenty of warm water to keep the fish there all winter.

The fish are there in catchable numbers right now! Steve told me today that dave is already slamming them there along with plenty of white perch.

The best thing about fishing providence is that the fish are concentrated in a relativly small area and, a boat is not needed at all,With the thames the fish could be in groton one day and 100miles upriver the next its just to vast and area to score at without a boat. When I did fish there from shore I concentrated in norwich harbor and fished mostly the east side near the "dump" with bucktails,It was never worth it.You would fish for 5 hours and be lucky to catch one bass and be doing fantastic if you added a hit to that.Providence is much better.Mr.Dave pickering (The schoolie king himself) caught 1000+bass in Prov.Between Dec and march all from shore last year.

I may fish there a handfull of times in the winter but, its not really my thing. If you absoulutly must have a tug of the line after 8 monthes of balls to the wall fishing then, It is the place to go.As for me I only have 4 monthes rest before starting up again and I need it!! Im looking forward to some family time!!! Have fun.....
