It is sad we disparage some for catching and posting pictures of big fish it easy there's the fish and there's a face.. and somehow that gets translated to hurting the stock?? I think we should be happy to see these fish it helps the case that conservation and catch and release works.. you didn't see fish like that in the late 80's it was a fry then.. we don't condemn commercial guys whys is that? no pictures... we who use rod and reel are not the enemy to the future of fish stocks ..

I read back through the comments and it seems the disparaging views mostly involved the crappy photography....posting pictures in the public square invites comment..if he posted pictures of him drinking himself into a stupor...some might applaud, some might laugh, some might comment that is seems excessive and some might comment that he's an idiot...it's legal, he can do it and post pics of it and he's really not bothering anyone...he solidified his status as a legendary fisherman and most of us..no....just about all of us know that we'll never sniff a fish like the many that he has landed, it shouldn't preclude anyone form commenting or asking questions....it would be great to see him release a 70 having already hit that mark in his lifetime(primarily because it would be unique I think but also one hell of a gesture), I guess two is even better.....I think he's entered some big fish in the Striper Cup catch and release indicating that he does put some big fish back....I always wonder what you do with a fish like that after the pics, is the commercial season open in CT? If you enjoy eating fish, and I do...the 30 something inch fish are far preferable for dinner, I've noticed a few things whenever these threads pop up....individual views not only vary widely but for some have changed quite a bit over time, some were singing very different tunes just a year or two ago which means that opinions evolve on these things and not necessarily with "seasoning" but sometimes with "catching" as in, "if "I'm" doing well...then there's no problem with the striper population so whale away...but if i'm not catching where I feel I deserve to be catching, the sky is falling, it's pre-moratorium all over again and it's everyone else's fault"......the keepers are more and more sensitive about the keeping, particularly of the big fish, not sure if it's part of the evolution, oversensitivity or guilt possibly...guilt as a result of the trend among peers or mood of community and the fact that you are seeing more and more pics/video of releases which the community seems to enjoy and applaud universally(not disparage)....always an interesting discussion though

BTW...the guys that I've always thought of as having "big balls" are the ones who continually do things that require either disregard or stupidity and somehow get away with it...then we marvel...'wow...he's got a set"....the odds usually catch up to them though

I do not believe that CT has a commercial season.

No boat, back in the suds.
