I'm sticking with my previous quote of "all Siwash hooks make me nervous". Braided lines aren't helping but I've seen and know of plenty of big fish lost on Siwash hooks and mono. Even the 6/0 VMC which they don't make anymore.

I've always viewed the long point on Siwash hooks suspicously and I think NIB is right on with his diagnosis as to why they sometimes fail.

On top of that I think with the right angle almost any of the hooks we commonly use on our plugs can fail. I've straightened 5/0 VMC trebles on a 20" fish before. I was in a rush to land it to get my plug back out there for something bigger and I was skipping the fish across the surface. That was all it took. Lesson learned...
