Hy Watson is still my favorite illustrator, I think - when he took over the helm of Field and Stream as editor he also did the covers
and would do an article or two to boot - and he wasn't a kid at the time either....
I have a full page 1937 Camel ad illustrated by Lynn Bogue Hunt featuring Chisie Farrington (her husband Kip was the F&S Saltwater Editor from '37 to '73) pursuing her record BFT - it's hilarious because the ad has Chisie touting the health benefits of smoking Camels!

All I have to do now is find it...

BTW - who was the illustrator for the Outdoor Life cover with the guy relaxing and enjoying his pipe after landing his bass?
I've seen a few variations on that theme - that's a great one.
