I beleive that you would have to wrap the tape and the cord at the same time to keep the grip gap-free. Some contact adhesive sprayed on the blank first would keep the cord in place or possibly unwind the dry cord after you put the tape on and brush in some glue and re-wrap the cord. I've seen nylon cord like that at the fabric store where I buy netting to paint scales on plugs. That grip is really nice, the blue makes it look electric. Where did the picture come from?
