Okay, since no one ventured a response, I'll give it a go.

Mr. CWL...or is it LCW?

It's my understanding that a lot of the "telescoping" rods...be they spinning or conventional, are "low-end" products that most serious fishermen don't even bother with.

Quality and durability strikes me as a concern. Also, there has to be something that you give up in terms of rod action for the convenience of retractability.

My $0.02? Don't bother. In many cases, you do get what you pay for with fishing tackle. Stick with a well known two-piece stick.

May I ask what you were using the telescoping rod for? Chunking? If so, how much lead and bait were you planning to toss?
