I have been to a number of these.
so far each one has been held to properly retire flags that have been proudly displayed and are too tattered and worn to continue to be used.

We live in America and freedom is what we stand for.

I am proud to live in a country where I could, If I so chose to, burn a flag to show the ultimate distaste with the leadership of this country.

I hope it never comes to it but with the fiasco of the last 6 years it sure has come close.

Burning a flag is very very powerful speech.
I would be excersising my right to Freedom of speech.

Those freedoms that deserve the most protection are the ones that people are freaking out about when people use them.

the American people have been too quick to give up freedom in the name of percieved safety.

Free Speech can never be given up.
never.

There is a fine line that seperates a fisherman from a fool standing in water swinging a stick.

Burning an American flag is the most disgraceful act one can do. Its shows a total lack of respect to the men and women who gave thier lives defending that flag over the years.

Anyone who burns a flag (other than to properly retire an old flag) is a loser in my opinion.

Be proud of our flag, remember what it stands for, remember the countless veterans who have lost thier lives defending that flag.

If you burn a flag in protest, you're basiclly saying %$%$%$%$ you to America and our veterans.

Burning a Flag in protest is a dispicable act that should be protected by the Constitution. That little document drafted up by people smarter than me, smarter than you Skippy, and smarter than the majority of people on both sides of the isle... For Freedom, for their brothers, and for that large piece of paper - many soldiers served and many died. Your Freedom is that collection of inalienable rights, in that collection is the inalienable right to ptotest, which includes if the person is nastily inclined,to burn the flag...

It seems to me quite silly that we should go to such lengths to enfore behavior that isn't even a problem in the first place. This flag burning discussion is simply a wedge issue so the GOP can fan the flames (pun intended) of partisan divide.

Aside from the obvious, that burning the American flag is the only way to dispose of it properly, how about the far greater visual offence that we all encounter every day...

That tattered and shredded American flag your neighbor put up several years ago, on a whim of patriotisim or even on 9/11, and hasn't had the time to look at since.

Is it a sign of disrespect, or just a symbol of someone persuing the American dream?
