I agree wholeheartedly. WE just had a bout of clots with my grandfather. (He is 88) He has been on Coumadin for approx 50 years. So when it was found out to be a clot in his leg the doctors at Brockton Hospital were dumbfounded. His hemotoligist was called in.
. His red blood cell count is too high due to a blood disorder. ( a form of cancer that attacks the bone marrow) The bone marrow is making his body produce extra red blood cells (I don't remember the technical term) For now we have him on a daily injection of lovinox (?) and hydroxyurea (sp?). In addition we have to take him once a week to be bled.
I guess the point I am trying to make is a second opinion sounds like it is needed. Something is wrong and needs to be addressed. Being stubborn could have bad consequences. I hope it doesn't and wish him well.
