tv shows/internet....Thats just out right ignorance telling people where you are, especially if you been around. I know they know better but I believe they said "F%#@ it'' as long as we are liked by most who cares if we screw the few locals. You would think they learned something from OTW or even Charlie Moore, as much as people dislike the show around here you would think they would of learned something in that respect. Bill do you remember when you posted a whole thing about Galilee then you deleated it? people never forget that...not cool.

Your first sentence misses the point tony..We never told anyone where we were..... How can I make that more clear...I think you should go back and read a few of my earlier posts on this before making judgements...Never said where we were the whole show...By the way I am a local also. I live here and fish here

Just my 2 cents -
Knowing P23 as a friend, he takes a lot of pride in his fishing and spent a lot of time researching a given area. He spent a lot of time there, when, at least in my opnion, its not the "hottest" spot in the ocean and I would have given up on it ages ago. His patience and his hunch eventually payed off, after YEARS of fsihing it. He shared that information and maybe it was coincdnece, maybe it was just the sharing of information - there were definietly more boats there last year in the areas he had haunted previosly.
MAny of us have put our time in and found areas and stuck with them, could you imagine seeing them on a tv show!?! I dont think there was any malevolance from EM, but the frustration with the increased boat traffic and the tv show would be shared by most. My fear is that the spring run will turn into the late summer bluefsih absurdity, with 30 boats on a school.

Well, well, well............................
Finally, a thread worth sinking some teeth into !
Just one question, for each of you.
If I agree with you Bill, then does that mean that you'll divulge the right winds, tides, times, and GPS #'s of Area A ?
The effin pilgrims can effff offf, Parker23! How do you think the Conanicut and the Algonquit Tribes feel about YOU claiming their God given waters ?
Eben's Rules of Discovery work well.
The Iron One once told me when I asked him about giving out "honeycove" info to one of the cats I had met online <<<<<ova there.
He said, "Jess, how do you think we keep landing our trophies? We don't tell anyone but the three or four of us. Is this guy yer brother/best friend? If he isn't he will tell his friends, and they will tell their friends, and so on and so on and so on and yer LAHHHHGE will disappear..........."

Bill, you're trying to argue your way out of a box here. If you're going to be on TV catching fish, posting pics of fish etc, etc, etc... people are going to take pot shots be they good or bad. There's really no winning, which is why most celebs pretty much have to ignore what goes on in the news or they'd go insane.

Your right spence this is useless.......But it doesnt mean I dont have a point..plus I have nothing better to do..
Jimmy White, Just told me "If I complained over 30 years about the amount of guys I saw give up my spots or that were in my spots over that time frame and cahrged 10 cents every time it happened , he would be living in costa rica right now sipping mahrgaritas and catching sailfish all day"
His point? Get over it...It didnt hurt him and it wont hurt you...
Jimmy has done several Narragansett bay shows which aired on ESPN...At all the above mentioned spots...No ramifacations and he makes his money chartering! thats his full time job! pays the bills! if he isnt worried none of you should be...Get over it

Your gonna have to get used to being a celebrity, listening to Charlie Soars say how much people wanna kill him and many other guys like him for that matter. Its funny how people Pm me or call me from far away places to tell me where and what time and what bait, you get the picture not that I care because truth is I don't but you get the picture.

I have no idea who told who , etc in this particular case. . I do know Bill that you , like me , don't need anyone to show them fishing spots in RI. Once you have put in enough time to know the entire coast , there simply are no more secret spots.
BTW , I remember when you and I rattled off some 60 , 70 or whatever number of spots all across the state from Naps to Little Compton one offseason when this site first started.
Anyway , I am sure that not even all the fishing spots put together is worth losing a friend over.

When you see your bud in your spot with someone eles,,it feels almost as bad as when you catch your wife cheating on you .. You can get another wife .. good fishing spots are hard to come by ..

Well its still just a fish, and acually all this controversy does nothing but help me, Tim Coleman once said to me..."Doesnt matter good or bad, the point is there talking" And just like you I really dont care at all, I am still gonna do what I want when I want and catch fish simple as that.......and I am sure this will just add to the view of the shows!

Much of the problem is that there are only so many spots, if you fish enough, you are bound to fish on someone else's...so called spot. First of..No one owns a SPOT...This land is OUR land, we all have the right to fish where ever we want to.. I fish hundreds of different spots and have been for probably 25 years, boat and shore..Are they all my SPOTS..NO!...Do I get pissed when I see someone else fishing it...Not really..I may just pass it up and come back to it when it's less crowded..Bruce, the spot I think you speak of (haven't seen the show yet) is a spot I fished 20 years ago..Do I claim it to be my spot? NO, I'm sure many others have fished it way b4 I did. Who cares who is fishing what spot, fish have fins...It's more so about the fisherman who can trick the fish, not so much the SPOT. I got over the Spot thing along time ago, now I just like to respect another's space and hope everyone does the same for me. Just my opinion on the whole Spot thing.

As an aside, I actually took the time to watch the videos of #^^^^^^& live lining pogies that are causing all the fuss.
I've never actually live lined a live bunker from a boat before, and was more than a bit unimpressed by the technique.
Seems more like a novelty than fishing.
You're snagging bunker in so thick a treble zipped through the water will produce over and over again. If you get thirsty, there's a vending machine on the dock about 20 yards away.
You motor to the GPS coordinates Parker's "friend" emailed you that morning.
Then you drop it in the water (or if you're an old salt give it a toss) and let it swim around for a while.
Eventually, a bass who's probably starving (because all the bunker she'd like to have eaten are already in your live well) is tricked (suckered really) into the take about 10-20 feet from your boat. It must be what, a full dozen or two cranks of the reel to bring her boatside?
And this is a sport?
