I'd rather rig them myself anyways. Not only is it alot cheaper, It gives me something to do in the winter.

Skiharder - as I said - "how do I say this??" - the comment was aimed at the majority of people fishing, you can't cover everyone and there's always exceptions.

Sure, hard core "into-it" folks will buy them, but look at all the comments on the thread. I would guess that less than 2 of 10 say they are the greatest thing since sliced bread, and will rig their own or use live eels. That's not to say they won't work or you are not "into it" if you use them.

I may go down to a 9' rod possibly a 8'6" a lot of depends on where you are fishing. Open areas would be no problem but get in the 'b-fields' or jetty country and you'd definitely need more muscle.
I like the idea of a small rod for control, anyone have suggestions of a good rod in the 8-9 foot range?

I've got a 9' Tica Dolphin spinner rated 1/2 - 3 that I love, great for 9" sluggos and a whole lot more, best light tackle surf rod I have used by far!

i use a 9ft rod and get great action. it can get tiring working the slug, especially with a 704 as your reel, but its usually worth the effort. Loomis 1084, allstar 1088, and that factory breakaway you sold me a couple yrs ago(that was my favorite slug-go stick) all work well. i like to hold the rod just above the reel seat and rest the butt against my forearm. this shortens up the length of the rod and gives you good leverage on the hook-set.

where i fish, the slug-go is really the only artificial that I am confident would entice a slob if i didn't have eels.
