If you grow up in English boarding schools and your father is a diplomat - you're privileged.
Consider the work and what distinguished them from all the forgotten bands of that era: Sophisticated themes, strong writing, an independent global perspective, incorporation of vastly different musical styles - it's the art of the educated.

My son did his high school senior presentation project on The Clash. (punk a$$ kid, only kidding). Two of top 10, The Clash and London Calling. I miss the punk music days, don't you? "That's Montgomery Cliff honey!"

My first concert was the Clash. I had fifth row seats and my ears rang for two days. I used to love to slam dance.
