I couldn't believe my eyes, either. The fish looked like it swallowed a wine barrel when Mike slid it up on the sand. We just stood on the beach laughing our asses off in amazement. Couldn't quite figure what the weight was so I ran back to the parking lot over soft sand and grabbed my scale before I took off to go home. The fish pulled the scale way down, but had a real small head and tail. Looked like a largemouth bass with stripes.

It's not the bait

you guys that don't see any schoolies, I've caught tons of them from the kayak this year. A dozen schoolies in an outing is not uncommon, with the average being at least 6.
they are bigger though, like around 24 inches or so, compared to the 12-20 inch ones we used to get in the spring by the ton
