The only time I ever snelled an eel hook is when I tried those octopus hooks with the turned-down eye.

Nowadays, on the few occasions when I throw eels, I just use the old standby Mustad bronze in 6/0, and attach them with a palomar.

Snelled bait or circle hooks on eel leaders seems to make the eel run truer.

ditto on the above ^^^^

on ALL bait hooks, i snell me own

palomar for swivels and improved clinch for breakaway snaps

and i still go with the Albright when i tie direct.
what size weight you using to stuff eeeels with, Jim?
still have yet to try that technique, this summer fo sho!
