These charts are pretty handy for recreational fishing and a quick guied line for bragging rights,I feel the best way for true accuracy is to weigh it in at a weigh station with a certified scale,but in this case she was released so from here on out it's all speculation and what ifs.
The chart are based on average fish length,weight & girth, the number of fish that were used in this survey is also averaged up to help the making this chart,
I truly don't know when this chart was last updated but I don't think it's up to todays bass standard weights.
As and example I caught a 49.5" fish the minimum weight is 44# she was only 40# I have caught countless fish that fall short of the charts.
I hear what your saying, a fish of that size and how it was measure is kinda questionable but if this is how he's been doing it and believes it's accurate then I believe him.
If I was to catch a fish that size I don't know what I would do.....I would be at a tough cross road.
