Fortunately I've been around long enough to know the difference.
Just about all the change I've seen for the worse started in the 60's so i can't bllame it all on one party or another.

We have enough laws on the books and don't need anymore, imho.
These new Big G jobs produce nothing except to add more taxes to cover
salaries, benefits and retirement.

When someone used to disagree with what you said, the comeback would be,
"It's a free country isn't it".
Haven't heard that in years.

There are so many people who never experienced true individuality and personal
freedom and it's Big G that's running, not walking, to expand itself into every
aspect of our lives.

Your entire post re-enforces my point.

You said the only change you see is that we're "going down the hopper." Well, we've been going down the hopper for well over a decade now.

The only thing that seems to change from administration to administration is the path we take to get to the bottom - each Party just has their own route.

Obama is Jimmy Carter II. He is going to lose next time, because we are in such a mess after 1 year of him no one can clean it up for several years.

JD, as I see it, it started in the 60's.

The Newark, Detroit and Watts riots restarted the give away programs just to keep people quiet,
instead of looking for real solutions to the problems.

Women entering the work force and depending on 2 incomes to
"have it all " for their families leading too the over use of credit and finally living above their means.

It's been a progressive thing with Big G throwing our money at problems
as if that is the be all to end all.

Debt, debt and more debt, and now it's
time to pay the piper.

My experience with the 60s is only through studying history - I'm a bit too young to discuss it by experience. But, from what I've learned, you're dead on. The 60s seemed to be a turning point for a lot of issues in this country, from freedom of expression, tolerance, the beginning of people utilizing social services, etc. - damn hippies effing up this countries.

LOL, yup, and they are the same ones that are holding the top
positions in companies and Government now.

Going back 40 years the same ones that told their girlfriends,

"you go down to the clinic get your free birth contol pills, pick up the food stamps,
get us some pot and i'll meet you back on the campus to protest "the etablishment.".

I have no problem with women working, or equal pay for equal work.

My point was the over indulgence because of the 2 income family.

Banks used to only take into consideration one income earner when granting
the amount of mortgage to loan, in addition to requiring a 20% down payment.
Now, because of the lax standards in loans, one partner loses a job in the 2 income family and the foreclosure sign goes up.

RRH, 2015 called, the IRS will want all your $$$ and your dingy.
