Spent the day slumming with lowlife from Franklin and eating P&J chew toys.
Prof M with a lido flaptail fish (after he shed 3 larger ones).
BB with a slim danny fish (before he nailed a much bigger one).
Pretty plugs, ugly mugs.

These two 30s were caught on a custom made gold and copper stubby squid needle made by ChrisJoe13. Both were PBs ... in the same night!

Yup thats the one.
They are tail weighted (I roll lead flashing around a wire) and there's also some lead in front of the hook.
As far as fishing them deep, they sink so I just let them. Retrieve as slow as I can bear with occasional twitch (to confirm contact).
second picture is a few in need of epoxy, first is of few that have caught plenty (mostly small). |

The pipes, the pipes are calling...
Had it all yesterday beginning with nearly perfect weather...the fish cooperated too. Good thing Numby is one of the best guides I've ever fished with because his cooking stinks...
I must say this was without a doubt the single most exciting fish I've ever taken in my life...the hit was just mind blowing as this fish of 35# or so came completely out of the water after my white danny. It reminded me of those tuna pics you see everywhere where the tuna leaps completely clear of the water while pursuing the bluefish. I was chanting like a cheerleader while Numby and ProfessorM simply chuckled...was really cool. We took a few pics, weighed it on Numby's rusty old chatillion, then set her loose.

Banana plug does damage...
Was kind of grinning to myself when George put this thing on, but quickly crapped myself as this upper 20#, maybe 30# fish took it down like it was a twinkie just scant few feet from shore...

ProfessorM raised some amazing fish on the flaptail. I've never seen one in action before, but might need to put one on my "to do" list for this winter...a couple real good fish didn't want to stay on the hook for PM, but the real thrill was watching the fish come up and take the plugs...fighting and landing them paled in comparison to some of the hookups we had.

I thought you only kept plugs on the boat as a decoy so people wouldn't find out you were an eel guy. If you're gonna fish them, you need to start by untangling the big mess of plugs that you keep on your console. It's hard to fish plugs when you can't separate one from the others.  |

Worth the trip today. Here is a blue with some shoulders that crashed Tagger's predator (good windy day plug). 13.5#.

When a loser like Sauerkraut outfishes ya, you can be sure it was the plug. In this case a Rockfish9 surfster outfished my stuff 3:1.....probably it would have been even more if someone with more intelligence than toe-punk had been using it.

LOL. Good for him. He needed it. He was a little bummed when I saw him last week at the canal, especially as Dave was releasing a 30 lber, and he told us he had been all over creation and hadn't had much luck. Was saying to myself today that it would have been a nice day to be out in the boat.

Nice G. I know exactly where you are. I got a little memory left. I was wondering if you had been getting anything in your neck of the woods lately. Nutin better than getting a fish on top water, especially one that size. I hit the canal this morning before I did some family stuff . Deader than a doornail but a beauty of a morning to be out there and not more than a handful of fisherman out there. Looked like most have given up for the year. Guess I missed the memo.
