Some years back I was fishing a secluded part of the Shawsheen River (if you know how long thios river is, it's definitely NOT a spot burn) and was trying my luck at some stocked brookies as well as a few holdovers. One of my last catches was in about a foot of water and was a nice 14-16" brown. Compared to the brookies, it was a real horse of a fish.

Nice brown!

I have an uncle (and also my godfather) that lives in Skowheegan, Maine. He used to be an avid fly fisherman. Of course that was before they started logging in the areas he used to go to.
In his words, "Once they put in the logging roads, it ruined it for me, because now people had really easy access to pristine waters that I had to hike thru the woods to fish. Now they can drive right up to them and fish them out!" He hasn't fished in decades, and has turned his attention/hobby towards flying large RC planes.
He kept a journal of EVERY ONE of his trips, including one he made with my father. For me, that is a real piece of history!

I once caught a 15 inch native brookie on a small stream in NH that I fish every summer.... it was written up in a magazine about 3 yrs ago and has never been the same since...
