First time in 4 years I haven't had a fish over 40" by may 10th in my local spots. Even the scattered 30" fish that were prevalent disappeared over the last week. Herring are few and far between. I know we get the good fish earlier down here, but I sure as heck hope to hear of more fish in this thread soon. Hopefully most released  |

Very surprising for Connecticut, and I was thinking of fishing there because of the saltwater license reciprocity figured I'd get the bigger fish earlier. I hope that isn't a prelude to what is in store for Massachusetts. |

I thought it was looking good two weeks ago, but I am nervous now. My fishing is limited to a narrow area this time of year so it is not necessarily representative of other places. I do know that within the group of a dozen or so guys who fish where I do and I talk with occasionally, the results have been similar. Too early to tell, but it looks more like fall in CT which has been not so great last few years. |
