Looking for a chuck

Jaw chuck unless there is something better. Has to be easy on the wallet too.... Anyone have one they want to get rid of or don't use? For my Jet 1014 midi. Thanks.

A steb center is better if you are planning to turn plugs.

Ross-

Best value is finding a used Nova , vicmark, or oneway chuck on CL, Woodcentral, or some other ww forum site.

For new check woodcraft, rockler, highland hardware, packard woodworks, craft supplies

Penn State industries has their barracuda chuck line but i prefer the chucks from the Nova, Vicmarc, or One way...

Thanks, Chris. I had no idea how pricey these could be vs. the price of the lathe... Just not going to be able to swing it for a month or so.... Or should I say I can't justify it right before Christmas, which is scaled back as it is.

Paul the type I'm looking for has 2 jaws that clamp together like a set of bench vise jaws. Just two parallel chuck jaws. Tnx for looking though.

Would a three jaw be easier for centering?

Absolutely. But 4 jaw will hold better with less pressure, squash part, at least in my trade.

Ross I'm looking for a 2 jaw for a specific reason. What needs to be turned can't be on center

3 jaw for round or 4 jaw for square.

Scott you have a lathe? Make a chuck specific for what you want out of alum. 4 jaw using just 2 jaws won't work? Make a couple adapters for the 2 jaws in use on the 4 jaw. Just some thoughts.

yea I tried the 2 jaws trick it didn't hold it good enough. The jaws need to be about 2" or more wide.

Kinda like a robot gripper hand
