SSU1201L cut 1ft from the bottom makes excellent bomber type rod. It is versatile where it loads cast bombers, redfins and weighted stick baits as small as about 1/2 oz up to and loading 2 3/8 SS littlenecks. I've casted AH spook type lure 2.75oz with no problem. I did not push beyond this weight but could be possible. The rod is slightly crisp making for longer cast with less effort then a GSB
series.
Eels cast decent with little effort a few tear offs that were user fault such a skinny diameter hooks, braid, not hooking the eel correctly and casting like a mad man.
Did I say it is very light.

just throwing this out there as another solid option. Not sure if they still make em, but GLoomis 1084S. 1-3oz. It's a factory rod and the grip tape is a little rough, but this is a tough rod. It's perfect for Finnish swimmers, rigged slug-gos, SS and Gibbs needles and eels. its only rated to 3 but I threw 3oz dannys and pencils consistently with no problem. Didn't catch any monsters on it, but caught a lot of fish between 20-28#s with the biggest going 32.( TO was with me when I caught a 28 and then another time when I got a 31 from a boulder field). Fished the rocks and an inlet with it. I wouldn't fish it in a bway though, almost got spooled at Q one Nov.but I'm pretty sure a seal took one of the 15 pound blues I was catching. And you can't beat GLoomis' warranty. Just throwing that out there as another alternative.

I have a 9' GLoomis that Dave hammock wrapped for me at Murats in 93. Pencil thin and light as a feather biggest fish was a 44# but that was a Ballston on sand. I have caught hundreds of fish on this rod and never had an issue. Had the cork tape and 2 guides replaced 3 years ago.
