Welcome to the new members. Both Farquar and Flounder seem well spoken and I hope they come over and talk fishing with us. This site has good hearted people who like to fish. If you fit that description , you are welcome here. Pretty simple.

If you know me or John , you should know that nobody will be censored needlessly but nobody will cause too much real trouble here either. Thats simple too.

We dont have an ax to grind with any other boards. Everybody comes in with a clean slate and can make what they want of the oppurtunity to participate here. Its all real simple.

Why is everything so simple here? Thats simple too. This site has good hearted people who like to fish! But I already said that.

Saltheart, Roccus, and John...THANKS for the warm welcome. It felt as good as a cup of coffee at dawn. Glad to be aboard! I'm a bit South for the area covered here, but I guess you have members even further away ...did you hear about the two guys Fluke fishing who caught a species unknown to either of them? They brought it to the local B&T for identification, and the guy behind the counter weighed their 16 pound Weakfish!

16 Pound Weakie? Damn, I want one of those but I haven't gotten one yet this year >(

Flounder & Farquar - you guys are certainly welcome here... So what do you guys do, shore or boat? and how far south are you (I'd like this site to cover the mouth of the Hudson and up, Yankee fans excluded of course, hehehehe)...

Well looks like I just make your cut off at the mouth of the Hudson. I fish the surf from Joisey though (am I still welcome ). Been hopin' to make it up North (how do I say that Nath'? ) though, like to be in the waters up there.

Welcome or not, I am staying :-D . Picked up a lot of tips while lurkin' about and I ain't about to leave .
Though I have been fishing the waves for a while, I am always pickin' up new info. (hmmm, did the intended audience hear that )
So forgive me if I am not chirpin' in on a lot of topics, I'm here to learn. (see above paranthetical)

No prob Farq... South of the Hudson is not an exclusion zone (or a bad thing for that matter ), just not the focus of this site. There are more than a few from Joisey and south that crusie by here for time to time...(Yer not a Yankee fan though are you? Go Sox)

...and it's NOTH or nauth. If you were from Baltmore, I imagine it would be noorth (I spent too much time down theyah)...

As far as learning? I never stop either - I've picked up so much stuff I'd like to try but don't even bother as there is just not enough time.

I used to make that "mouth of the Hudson" description when I lived in Manhattan. But I don't get back there very often. Over 50% of my fishing is now in Little Neck, or in Manhasset Bay. Incidentally, that 16# weakie was weighed at R&G B&T and was caught by two rookies fishing Matinecock Point for Fluke. I see you are a stickler for pronunciation, so I wonder if you could tell me the correct way to pronounce "Squetauge"? Is it "squee-tog" or is it "squet-ogg"? Now I'm not particularly a fan of spectator sports, but my DAUGHTER is a diehard Yankee fan. You must admit they are the finest team that money could buy. Red Sox? Wasn't the last time they won a series in 1918 or something? In NYC, we have an underdog team as well, the METS.
(Those in the know, know this stands for "My Entire Team Stinks", or something like that)

Here's a piece of trivia for you ...who was George O'Brian?

ROTFL!!!

Ain't it the truth! They're the once-in-ten-years team, maybe. Even Haliey's Comet is more certain than the METS. ;P

hehehhe...

& BTW - it's pronounced skeet, or just plain old weaks...

I will give ole George one thing, when he buys a team at least the team stays bought and he doesn't dismantle it like when Huyzinge (sp?) did it to the Marlins many moons ago.

The Sox are a little more than overdue, curse of the Bambino as it's called up heeah... BillyB - at least that was a gift to the stinkers ...

Jaiem, doesn't Haley's come around every 80 years or so? The MEts could have 7 or 8 by then...

I'm still not clear ...is it "Skee-tog" or "Skee-teeg". You ignored the George O'Brian question! Is the only one who knows that name from "Noo Yawk"? (Lawn Guyland, actually).

I have no idea about George O'brian. He certainly aint Boston Irish - that would be O'BriEn... It's spelled "Squeteauge" and pronounced Sket-Teeg So who the hell is George O'briAn? (I tried thinking after the coffee kicked in - no dice)

Yea, I suppose by then just by the Law of Averages the METS would have won a few.

Now, now guys. Be nice, I am a Mets fan, having lived in Jersey for 23 years. Having a father who was raised in Lowell and his family obviously Yankee haters, he had to rout for the Mets in NY area and it just got passed along to me. Been with them through the good and bad, any even when they are bad, they always find a way to make the game exciting. Sure had a whole lot of fun with the guys at work back in 1986. :P

Haley's comet came in 1910, and the Sox had a couple Series titles in the early part of the cycle. But, it came back in 1986 (sorry, I know that year has bad karma), and we're what, 15 years into its next cycle? Law of averages aside, on a pro-rated basis, the Manilla Folders have bageled an entire Haley cycle. But look at the bright side, Haley's will be back in 2062 If I live to be 109, maybe I'll get a chance to see a Series banner flying over Fenway, which I'll bet will still be their home that year.

I think it's "skwet-teeg". Occasionally "skwet-taig". Sorta like "kwahahg" or "cohawg" depending on whether in Rhody or Green Hahbah.
