msba history question

there was a member during the 70s that use to wrap a lot of custom rods for members i think his name was whitey any help would be appreciated on his name , i have one of his custom wrap surf rods sitting in my garage that i want to get rid of (i'l never use it bad shoulder) its a sin for it to sit there , thanks

Go to the MSBA site and look up the historian...John Cherico..I believe he has an e/mail addy that is listed there also..

His name was Whitey Krueger, another guy that did TONS of stuff for MSBA. Used to make custom rods for the kids derby winners every year... I remember him when I was a kid there.... a real nice guy.
Had a wire line rod made by him.
PM me about the surf rod Joe, I would be interested in it, more for nostalgia than anything. Steve

thanks for the help guys , i thought that was his name but its been a long time , i did win one of his rods as a juinor member , it was an awesome piece of gear tjhat i used and abused for 15 years this other rod was won by my dad i think in the raffle .

I got to know a bit about Whitey Krueger this past year because of my son Leo who won the juniors derby last year, and the tradition started by Whitey Krueger of building a custom rod for the junior catching the largest bass of the year!
Aurthur Kaplan now carries on the tradition calling, it the
"Whitey Krueger memorial award"
