After the Stable Genius
I've been saying that every tool Floridaman and the Trumplicans build now to exploit a temporary position of power will be turned back on them later.
Because if you break the boundaries and rules and norms the other side will justify using the same tactics.
Weaponize the DOJ? Just wait.
Protect your goombas by interfering in the course of justice? Just wait.
Encourage your people to engage in actions that range from shady to illegal with the promise of pardons? Just wait.
Govern by executive orders? Just wait.
There's a particularly stupid trope among Trumplicans that Republican consultants and operatives before Floridaman were all passive losers. (Ignore Republicans winning 2000 seats over 20 years).
They think that because they didn’t wreck everything that it was somehow a chain of losses.
That's because most people who make that case have never worked in campaigns or in government. Their point is mostly masturbatory.
They don’t get that you’ve got to be in for the long march, because putting the work in over decades is what changes the country.
You also don’t set precedents of abusing power, wrecking the rule of law, and putting the government to work for the personal financial and political benefit of the candidate.
Call me crazy but avoiding all those things is the conservative position and it’s also the liberal position. It’s the honest path, something over which no one and no party has dominion.
Trumpism is not conservative. It is a radical, jumped up form of authoritarian stat-ism. It is nationalism and corporate socialism.
History doesn’t exactly repeat but it surely lays down a fat beat and a steady flow.
So look forward to a Dem President in 2021 asking who paid for Beers O' Kavanaugh's mortgage and credit card debts on Twitter on a daily basis and you can skyscream But..........

it was proven that under obama, the IRS was targeting conservative groups for being conservative. no evidence obama ordered it, but his head of the IRS thought it was acceptable.

The IRS was overwhelmed with groups registering for special tax status. And the low-level people who were guilty of the targeting by name we're doing it cuz they were swamped. They searched groups who had the word tea party in them and groups who had the word progressive in them. I believe all of these groups were registering as social welfare groups which would give them special tax status . There were more conservative groups then liberal groups trying to get registered. The numerous investigations found that there was no ill intent. And one low-level person. I believe lost their job. There was no proof that anybody weaponized anyone or anything for political benefit.

paul, if they were merely swamped, the results wouldn’t be discrepancies based on politics.
