What lb test do most jig with? I have been using 50lb with plugs and eels, but after some fraying jigging, I am thinking of bumping up to 60lb mono. Will 60lb cause to much lifting of the jig? I use about a 4-5' leader.

I use 80lb Momoi diamond.

Strong and very abrasion resistant

Was able to free a stuck jig today and the line was barely frayed.

That's just what I use and from my experience have been happy with the results

If yer talking about fishing in the Canal specifically, then 50lb is the highest I go.... otherwise 30 or 40lb is plenty. I also like using SilverThread leader material for its knot tying and abrasion resistance..... hard to find though

I use 50 jiggin the ditch no problems here. Also only use about 2 feet. Seaguar hasn't let me down yet. But never hooked a 40 or 50 there to put it to the real test...except that one that got away...lol

Sorry guys, yeah talking about the canal - 2-5 oz jigs. I go with longer leaders cause I retie so much, and also for something to grab.

50# Seguar Floro. I still change them out a ton , and cut back my line frequently when jigging.
