I said I won't post any pictures unless it's a 40 or more. So far 35# is the biggest |

It is kind of interesting that we are not seeing nor hearing about a LOT of big fish. I just fished 12 days straight and put in a ton of hours both on the boat and at the Canal. There has been a couple of 50s and a smattering of 40s but nothing like years past. Maybe the big girls are still not here or maybe there are not a lot of big girls left.
I was at the canal late last week and saw 4 or 5 guys in the Sag parking lot coming in with 28" fish. Why in the name of God are these nitwits killing 28" fish? Because they CAN, that's why.
I have never seen so may guys fishing the Canal. Is it due to the lack of fish on the Back beaches, the easy access, the predictability of the fish movement? Maybe all of the above. Anyway, my nephew and I have caught over 50 fish in the 15 to30# range and killed 2 fish and they were gut hooked.

I think the canal gets so much action because of the predictablity of the movement and then word of mouth. When push of fish comes in, within a day everyone is getting phone calls. Its never a secret of when the canal is going off. |
