With that net I'm assuming you are fishing from some type of structure (bridge or cliff perhaps?) that needs a rope to drop the net down to haul up your catch. Nice job. Any of those fish have weight to them?

yeah, it's a frabil and god I love that thing. No more climbing down seaweed soaked rocks at 1am anymore. Had it for about 2 seasons now. Best $30 bucks I ever spent!

I like your enthusiasm, keep it up. There is a ton of great advise on this site from some of the best fishermen to ever chase striped bass. Listen to all of it, apply it whenever possible, never stop learning, and take it as far as you wish.
Have fun and enjoy the journey

I remember when we would bust each others balls and no one got offended. Now everyone has thin skin. Jeez!
Sorry if I offended anyone with my rude, crude, offhanded remark about schoolies.

Nice job- Been hitting the slack tides in that same area that last two days with whole macs and catching similar fish but "seeing" some really large fish either investigating my bait or escorting a smaller hooked fish to me.
You getting them all on bait or fooling some with artificial offerings?
Gonna hafta drag myself out there one of these nights and introduce myself.

Post them on facebook if you want a pat on the back.

I wasn't offended in the least bit by piemma's comment. I like the ball busting on this site, and feel like I'm getting to be "one of the guys" here. No offense taken, no apologies needed. I know putting pics up here of fish is a one way ticket to ballbusting. Maybe piemma can take me out fishing one of these weeks and show me what a real fish is! lol

People who don't own boats don't think boat fish count because they don't own a boat. They fight the same. It takes the same skill to find them and sometimes more so and, oh BTW, they taste great.
I speak with a bit of experience as I spent 38 years in the surf before I got my first boat.

Nice fish dudes!
Yeah to your point, I was thinking how it would be cool to have a boat, then I thought about it and realized it would be a whole new learning curve and very different from what I do now so I'm good with waiting a while!

They may fight and taste the same but surely you agree there is more of a challenge in landing a large fish from shore. Rocks, piers, other bozo fishermen who cast over your line whilst you are fighting a fish. Not to mention the land you are standing on (slippery rocks). Easier in a boat to motor away towards or from a fish that is not going where you want/need it to....
Full disclosure... I do not own a boat but have fished from them and prefer not to (until I am no longer able to rock-hop. (then I will buy a kayak)

The first year I had my Sea Hunt CC I went fish-less until Clammer took pity on me (for which I am grateful) and helped me out. If you think fishing is fishing you are mistaken. There are a whole new set of problems fishing from a boat.
It's just like surf fishing. The fish are NOT everywhere. The last week I have been fishing a 100 yard stretch of water where there is virtually no reason for the fish to be there and they are not, except on one, 1hour part of the tide. You could throw live pogies at this spot for 5 hours and unless you figure out the one hour when the fish come and stage here, you would get NOTHING.

hey spin, might be up your way tonight fishing, look for my car with the s-b.com sticker and lure sticker I got from JMac at plugfest. You know where I fish....I'll def be the only one with a head lamp on. Would love to meet ya. As far as boat vs. shore, I'll fish anywhere the opportunity presents itself. I'm a shore guy cause I don't have a boat, but love getting out on the water anytime a free ride is offered. Cough, cough....anyone on the Northshore going out soon?! lol

All fish are good fish. It pays to have friends that have boats. Still like walking the rocks at night, something about it. Once my bones fail, time for a boat.
