I like breakaway snaps. I use the smaller size and hardly ever change them. My experience has been that I lost way more fish with snaps than clips. Snaps were so bad I tied direct for years but that costs you fish because you stick with a single plug too long. I've lost two small fish in about 6 years to clip failure. Sooner or later I expect to lose a good one, but so what.....I lose them all sorts of other ways....and expecting to land everything you hook takes a lot of fun out of fighting fish.

Folks keep using the same clip over and over thinking its an infinite sort of strength in that little paperclip. I actually heard one caster (novice) stating that he purchased one production rod over the other.. because the clips fit inside the guide rings... meaning he reels the clip all the way to the reel when hes done.. ...ThrowingTimber

Thanks for not mentioning my name, but "novice"?
