Lost Surf bag
I received this message today:
Quote:
A fellow surf caster, "smoking Joe" Smith (works at Dunn's Corner Mobil) left his surf bag full of new plugs at Napatree parking lot.

If you happened to have found it, PM me and I will relay the information.

Thats a bummer... Mobil-Joe is a nice guy. I hope it turns up!
Its so easy to drop your bag at your vehicle when you are dead tired, walk to the other side of the car, and then leave. I have done it before withe a 3 day old digital camera inside the bag. lucky it was still there.
I now have a laminated card with my contact info inside...

Gotta have a routine. Mine is that when I get back to the truck, I press the alarm, open the hatch, and first thing in is the surf bag. Next off is the belt, which also goes in the truck. Then the lights followed by the top and waders. Last but not least is the rod and reel.

Good luck. I hope he got some fish out of the deal at least. That is a pissah of a walk. I know that lack of sleep + a long walk (two ways probably one being at high tide) = possibly losing your regular routine. Throw in a SW wind and a bunch of fish even Einstein could get confused. I hope his stuff turns up.

Before I get back in the truck I always do a walk around. Make sure nothing is on ground ,hanging off roof racks or sitting on bumper.

Not that I am aware of yet.
Like others have said, I have a pre and post fishing routine. Before I leave my house I visually check for a mental list of items. When I arrive at the water and before I set out, I go through a list and physically touch each item to verify I have everything. Lastly, at the end of the night, I do a quick look around the truck before pulling away. If at any time I even get the slightest feeling that something was left behind, I stop and check for it and again, I touch it to make sure it's there. One part OCD, one part not wanting to leave something behind.
