Rigged eels have two hooks! That's a big advantage. They can be cast viciously without casting off. You can set the hook as soon as you feel anything so better when fish are finicky. You can freeze them , thaw them , over and over.
Live eels easier. Rigged eels better all around. Just another opinion.
