Arrow also (some thoughts)

we have lost some important members to the big pond in the sky....

that and there's been a desecration of our shores due to seals meaning it's not as pristine as it once was plus all the restrictions from plover's reducing access , over fishing by people down south in Maryland using nets and not getting caught poaching ,pollution in the Chesapeake bay.

Each one of these is a contributing factor.

Facebook was fun at first being new and all but then they decided to use your "likes" for their own advertising purposes which is why i left..
and now they have taken that a step further by using your picture next to those same ads as your personal endorsement.

Theres not alot of younger guys who are involved in "the scene" on the sites. Im 31 and fish with alot of guys my age, who fish ALOT, but im the only one who frequents this site. Probably becuase i work in an office scene.

Maybe a changing of the gaurd is needed!!

Seems like there's a core group that posts a lot, and not that many
new folks; kind of what things were like in the late 70s before the moratorium
when there were only trophy fish and no schoolies. I have been an occasional
poster the last 10 years, but I have tried to stick to fishing and not other stuff
(I don't think anyone here gives a s--- whether I'm going to my cousins wedding
or not this weekend).

I think Facebook has a lot to do with it. I personally have avoided being on Facebook,
mostly because I believe it's bad policy to put personal information on the Internet,
where anyone can get it and use it. It's clear the site has slipped some, but I don't
think it's in danger of going extinct, like Surfcaster did a couple of years ago. Still,
some new posters would be nice. I note that Reel-time is going downhill too; hardly
any freshwater poster over there any more.
Probably going to be less folks here in the future though; too bad.

I am still around to insert a comment to stir up some nasty
controversy. Let me think about an example or two.......
I'll get back on that but for moment I suggest an S_B
get together in RI this fall.

I just got an email from AMEX saying that I can now sign up to get my AMEX alerts on Facebook. Oh great! Just what I need.

I have a Facebook account strictly for family.

No boat, back in the suds.

Wink

I think bringing back the legs would be great, but one of the things i noticed is too much emphasis is placed on dates to please everyone, making everything last minute. I think if you do the four legs, and set definitive dates by march. Most people will fit them into their calander if they are serious. As a parent I am often explaining to my daughter how we can't make every birthday party, activity, or event. The same holds true here, you make the one or two you can o rall if possible, it brings us all together.

one thing I also noticed is that the site seems to have cliques, kind of like HS. I think having the legs would make it less so.

I have seen few people from the site over the years, more because I have been fishing less, but it is always nice to see friends and chat

I think the political forum was the worst edition to this site ever!

Yes facebook is doing a good job of keeping us away too
