If it blows hard...we should postpone. The more guys than can participate the better time it will be. It needs to be safe and fun for guys in 20'ers. Hopefully it will be FAC. But IMO the call to postpone should not occur until a couple of days prior... No offense to weathermen out there but unless it is a hurricane....any forecast beyond 48 hours is usually a total crapshoot.
I will be there unless I get a tuna or canyon invite that I can not decline (doubtful). I plan bringing the crew from #^^^^&s B&T, they asked me if togfest was going to happen this year... and I said yes I think it is. They want to go. Togfest is becoming a notable event!
(Fishing the monster shark or Nantucket billfish tourney this year?....No, I am fishing Togfest!)
I have a bushel of crabs at my dock and I am feeding them a few bunker every week. The crabs are pumped, I want to tog. I may try a this week around my 'hood to get my gear ready if the weather permits. I think Mrs. sandman is working next weekend so I will she will just have to read about it in the fisherman magazine. I am looking forward to the after party as well, these can be as fun as the fishing event as you get to hang with other tog-fanatics. Someone should probably call the restaurant and give them a heads up before 20 tog fisherman barge in.

Talk to Cohen. He has a 20 footer. It will be on unless it's a solid 4 plus. Don't have to go far at all for good togging. As far as the back eddy we will be fine. Just be ready for an expensive menu with no sandwiches or burgers. My advice is to pack some food and use the back eddy for a hang out and a few beers.

Ross,I have gear and bait covered so no worries there. I also have room if a couple want to hop on or a larger vessel is needed. Anything with an N should be good for a forecast. Hoping to get out this week to see where they are hiding,no real need to go to Ribbons but I am up for whatever. The Eddy will be happy to accomadate us and they have great chowder and stuffies as well as a good fish sandwich or pulled pork to gnaw on. It is pricey but most decent places on the water are. Jim,you are welcome to keep your boat on my dock as I think the slips at the end of the Eddy dock are still taken but you might be able to squeeze inside.Current and wind direction can make maneuvering a little difficult at times. Looking forward to a nice day on the water and some tog battle!

First long range into Sunday, worse than last year's weather for Togfest.

Given the diversity of the human species, there is no “normal” human genome sequence. We are all mutants.

So I haven't posted to SB in years, but know a few from other places. The Jenny Lee (24' RoMarine Offshore) will be attending with crew of ATG and brother, linesider69, flik-nDip and Dad. I think I know where to launch from, but after that, I am lost. Can anyone PM me with GPS etc? I will read through the thread, but what VHF are we all using?
I hope the weather holds out.

Used to tog a lot out of Westport in my Dad's 20 foot Grady about 20
years ago. A word of advice; I don't recommend anyone going around Gooseberry
Point in anything smaller. Not sure what the wind is like this time of year; doesn't
quite sneak up on you in mid-day like during the summer, but still could change while
you're out. If you're on the other side of Gooseberry, you can have a hellacious time
getting around it in a smaller or open boat if the wind/waves pick up. Choose your
spots and times carefully.

Forecast right now is saying SW winds wich are not favorable for fishing out front of westport. We may want to launch from fairhaven like we usually do and fish out in front of padanaram and hide from the wind. I've been fishing that area lately and doing real well. Sunday 42 keepers to 10 lbs.
Just a thought....

Crabs
Skippy & Joe & friend keep your fingers crossed! 🚣
First shipment of crabs to my local shop came in a large, what looked like a 100 lb. bag. Mostly large critters and smelt somethin bad. 😝
Picked some up today, no stink but tiny. Is tiny good or bad? Does it matter? Do ya still halve them? Going out mańana.

that's a good idea cohen, any ideas where we can meet up afterwards if we fish out of fairhaven - someplace that has some parking for the trailerboats

Niko let me do a little homework on the resturaunt situation maybe the waterfront grille im not sure if they have a bar. ill call the resturaunt tomorrow and see of they can accomidate us by boat and parking for traillers. As for the fishing heading out of fairhaven I think is best bet weather wise and fishing the water temps are in the low 60's still and gives the fish no reason to be on the reefs at the head of the bay yet. there still inshore in 20 to 30 ft.

small are fine. trim the legs and cut a little corner of shell or give them a little smash with a sinker

Mouth of BB is looking sloppy.
Sun (for RI sound) for now.
W winds around 15 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 4 to 6 ft. A chance of showers.
Sun (BB itself) for now
W winds 10 to 15 kt with gusts up to 25 kt. Seas 2 to 3 ft. A chance of showers.
Tell me where you guys want to fish and I will meet you guys there... PM me a set of numbers if you decide to fish anyplace else. Wherever you want to go is fine by me. Fishing inshore appears better now than at the outer reef. A buddy went day before yesterday and caught 50+ fish to 7.5# in tight to the beach near me. water temp is about 61 near me at the moment.
What about fathoms in NB near CMS? I think I can probably find a place to tie up for an hour or two at the dock and the parking lot is big.

Sandman I think fathoms may be a good idea. They have their own floating dock and the guys trailering can park in the bobs sea and ski lot wich is fairly big. I'll give them a call today and see if they can accommodate us...

Sandman can tie up at Fathoms but will have to wait for the bridge (1/4 past the hour) to open.
