12 Volt Compressor
I am looking for a new 12 Volt compressor for filling tires when leaving beach. I just killed and inexpensive Craftsman that plugged into cigarette lighter. I think I would be better off w/a compressor that hooks onto battery w/alligator clips.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I fished through the lean years and don't want to live through another collapse of the stock.
2 fish @ 28" is ridiculous.

Don't know if it's any good but Sierra usually has one that's got battery, clips, air compressor, inverter etc...all in one unit. With a 35% off coupon it's priced pretty well.

There was a thread here or on another site, I forget? But you can hook up a air cond compressor in your truck to have a on board one all the time.
I will have to see if I can find it, unless someone else knows about them??

Bruce, it's been about 10 years since I ran the beaches but we use to carry an air tank with 100 pounds of air. I could air down to 8 to 10 PSI and air back up when I can off the beach to about 18 to 20 PSI. More than enough to get me to a gas station. We never found a DC compressor that was worth the bother.
Once the rangers on the Cape put in the air up station it was a no brainer. I only ran RI once or twice as you can walk just as easy to the good places to fish.

I have a VIAIR 300P It fill all four tires in 12 minutes start to finish
this is not cheap but IMO it's well worth the money

Careful! Scuba tanks are 3000 to 3500 PSI and hold up to 125 CF. You'd need some sort of regulator or a bomb suit..... |

I use mine all the time. Works like a charm. I have a regulator with an attachment to the BC hose to fill tires. Can reinflate the tires quite a few times.

Q Industries MV50 - best bang for the buck. I bought mine at BJs. Available sometimes there and Costco. You want one that connects directly to the battery and not via the cigarette lighter. Check out the reviews online.

I remember seeing someone years ago on Race Point that had a tube bumper adapted to hold compressed air. Fill it before he left the house...get off the beach and fill the tires. Pretty cool but would hate to be rear-ended by someone. BOOM!

I have been using the VIAIR 300P that I purchased a few weeks ago. It is fantastic. 15 - 35psi in less than 10 minutes for all 4 tires.
My oold compressor took 5 minutes/tire and was steaming hot by the time it was done.

If it's the guy I'm thinking of he drove a Land Rover and was an attorney from Oxford MA. I had never seen it done until he showed me one day at Race Point |

It was an old beat-up red pickup truck...Toyota maybe. I do remember it was a pickup, though. |

A few folks with older cars with air conditioners would discontinue the Freon and use the conditioner pump for tires.
Fastest fill up I've seen
