How'd ya do?

Anyone hit the ice on the very windy Saturday or very cold Sunday? I fished both days in Pembroke. 4" good black ice. Just perch and pickerel, but a couple of the picks were big. The slow fishing was augmented with beer and delicious grilled venison steak and chili.

went out Saturday to Massabesic in manchester NH. Sun never really came out from behind the clouds so it stayed ~15F with a late morning wind weather-wise. Fishing was slow to say the least. I had 1 Brown trout for the day. There were 6 of us out there and that was the only fish...Beautiful lake though. I'll be back.

Saturday fished a little better then Sunday, 4 lakers iced Saturday and 2 on Sunday. No wallhangers but fun in 100 fow. It was actually much windier in Maine on Sunday but luckily I was cozy in my little flip over.

Ice Fishing

Hit a pond on the Northshore Sunday. 4" of ice; surprised it was not more. Near the ramp was still a lot of open water. 2 perch and one nice rainbow trout was it along with a ton of 'wind flags'...

Fished the same Westwood pond both days, jigged up a mess of sunnies, some slab crappies and a few small to medium bass.
Had one fish break me off. My guess was a pickerel.
4" near shore and 5-6 on the western shores.

Oldest son pulled up this nice smallmouth from a local pond. First smallie we've ever taken around here as they're not common in my zip code.

It's not the bait
At the end of your line
It's the fishing hole
Where all the fish is blind

Sunday afternoon

Was a bit slow, but me and my partner managed a few very good panfish (bluegills and crappies), as well as he got three largemouths, best was about 3lbs, on panfish jigs with powerbait, and a pike about 28", on 6lb mono....lucky to hook that one on the edge of the jaw! Two weeks ago we did 60 fish each...go figure!

Skunked at Scargo and then this monster at Wequaqet,,,,

Saw a guy pull a duck up through a hole today, darnedest thing I ever saw. There was open water about 10 to 15 yards away!

That's funny Guppy, but a flag is a flag and don't know till you get there. The ice has been great, I spent most of saturday on local ice and did real well bass, pickerel, crappie, perch and lots of nice cold beers.

How about that kid that won the $15K in the Meredith Rotary Derby this pasty weekend?
That's going to be tough to top, but hopefully he'll just continue to fish for the love of it!
