Getting it off the ground with full fuel and a heavy load of explosives could be a problem, if it was hidden at a small, remote field somewhere. You'd need about 5000' of runway (maybe more if it's a grass field) and a pilot experienced in short field max weight take-offs. Taking off is a bit more complicated than hijacking a plane and turning it around. If was going to be turned into a flying bomb, odds are the original pilot would refuse to take off, even at gunpoint. Unless he was in on whatever plot was hatched, of course. |

Getting it off the ground with a small nuke could be scary, and with no load and a lot of fuel that aircraft could likely fly for a while.
I'd wager the military is watching this closely.

I wouldn't jump to that conclusion yet. Evidence is increasingly pointing towards not only a hijacking, the aircraft the air for 7 hours after they lost contact and maneuvers to avoid detection.
