Yeah I like the rule, for lack of a better term, as do others. I have done it for years. I often fished from shore if I didn't feel like taking the boat out and I knew there was a decent bite at a shore spot. This year is a little different becasue of the high price they are paying. When you have consistent shore action, which we have pretty much had this year where I fish, and they are paying upwards of $5 a pound you don't need a lot of fish to make a decent payout and going from shore you are not investing in all the things that go along with a boat trip. Now you are probably not going to land as many fish from shore as a good boat guy will but you won't have the expenses either.
