I need to catch one this week, I've never had the chance to target Albies. Hopefully I find some while I'm off the week.

Does your incessant whining make you feel better? How about you just shut the hell up and suck it up? It's a fishing forum , so please just stop.

Yea Chris, my dad and I have been out there a lot lately, but he's got me beat. Dude gets out for em like every day. And wdmso, I was using the smaller size in pink until I lost both to an overly sensitive bail. Tied on the larger and still managed a few, though. Pink was hot for sure. Oh, and yeah, that's us in the cat.

Live it

Bait is real small where I am fishing and they turn their nose up at the hogy. Have had much better luck with the small Mac Daddy lure in pink , but the finish falls off after 2 fish which sucks but been the ticket last few times out for me.

After much looking, I thought I found them.....but ended up being a school of 3# bloofish busting on the bait.....another boater said they were mixed in, but it wasn't meant to be.
Did get pretty wet though.....

Perhaps I'll look in another direction tomorrow......weather depending.

Where are the bass (even the 20+" fish that should be working this bait)???? With all this bait I've been seeing, it should surface all predators,,,, if they're resident that is...

Thanks guys much appreciate the help. Just out of curiosity has anybody tried mackerel rigs or sabiki rigs fished on top? Seems like it might work, similar to the way we catch hickory shad

you gotta love that (s)hit -
you should have asked him, ...
should a hunter drive his truck into a flock of ducks if he wants a chance at getting a few?
heard there were a lot of blues up your way, ?
water temps haven't began dropping yet.....perhaps when they do, the bass will wake up
although the bottom fishing and bonito hunting has been fun

One of the best lures we've found for albies and bonito are small mackeral jigs 1/4,1/3,1/2 oz sold in 3 packs blister packs. Used to have good luck getting at Benny's but not anymore. West marine might have. Found them online at sea Wolfe tackle.

I was on a mixed bag the other day. Albies, bass, blues. Massive feeds. There is so much bait, I don't think these fish are going anywhere soon. Haven't seen pogie schools like this south of the bridges in a while. It's a smorgasbord of fish out there

Here is what they are feeding on where I am fishing. Small metal has taken 99% of my fish. Wish we had peanuts but I have not seen any since that first week. The bay anchovies are big brown stains in the water and you try and find the bait balls and hang out near them until the albies thrash thru them. How I got my fish yesterday. Gives you a real good chance at catching them when this occurs. I hang in close to shore to find these balls and being alone is a plus. Too many boats break up the balls of bait but being in a small boat allows you more shallow water to patrol and I think a lot of the other boats don't take you seriously being in a tin boat so they tend to ignore you which is fine by me. Nothing more satisfying than getting fish in front of a 30 plus foot 2 engine center console filled with know it all's.

We were surrounded by bait-balls this morning with constant thrashing fish......threw everything at em'

another boat pulls up, throws a large swimmer at em'...instant hook up ,,, The rip coupled with the 3-5' swells that had the bait confused was a rocking good time in my 18, but the lack of hook-ups was sooooo disappointing....from pink rubber, to all types and sizes of metals, green-stripped #^&#^&#^&#^&s, crystal minnows, assorted jigs, a kitchen sink, my mother-in-laws meatloaf......couldn't get the bastidds to engage. Although a yellow-eyed devil did cut-me off....

Still exciting to witness none-the-less, until you get back to fill the gas tank....
