Well considering that it may be costly to your career to defend yourself even though you are innocent, because once word gets out that you were "accused" of the crime, the jury of public opinion will raise it's ugly head and your job/career is soon a distant memory.
Tell me how many people that were charged with that type of violent crime (rape, indecent assault, child molestation) and are found innocent by the courts, how many of them still had a job after the case is over???

Once an employer gets wind of the allegations and accusations they tend to had a staffing issue that causes the "accuses" to suddenly be out of work.
Do they rehire the innocent victim of wrongful lawsuit?
Nah, they just ignore the fact that they treated him/her like dirt just to protect their image.
That's why people tend to pay first instead of going to trial.
In the long run it's less costly.
And that's probably why so many more "accusers" are coming forward now. They want their payouts....period!
(They could have come forward years ago but didn't....WHY???)
