Between politics and facebook, striper fishing has turned into a day time soap opera.

Filippi honestly thinks we would rather buy a federal license than pay a $4 tax which is matched 3-1 for maintaining the fisheries across the state? Well Filippi, how are we going to get those additional federal funds? We certainly wont be getting any funds by purchasing the federal license, which is $25.

Yes, I did. I was also at a meeting where he presented his case. My concern is, where are the federal matched funds going to come from when we are not charged the $4? So, we are going to pay $3 for a license, which covers people pushing paper work and tracking the number of fisherman. Like Nebe said, look at what that $4 fee has done for the state. Do you honestly think they will have a $3 license if they take away the $4 tax? I don't. Then we will be forced to buy a federal license or an out of state for another state. He said his ultimate goal is to do away with the state license, didnt he?

His first objective was to due away with the state license. After he got push back from everyone because we would be forced to buy the $25 federal license, he decides we should not pay the $4 tax. I agree we shouldn't be taxed. However, the money is getting matched 3-1 and we are seeing results. To pay the $4 is a no brainer when you are getting federal matched funds.
