The savings of 25% of an monthly electric bill of $100 is $25. If the cost of the power wall is $3500 it will take 140 months to see a savings on your investment but then it would be to time to buy a new battery.

Sounds like a luxury item more than a true energy savings item.
It would be more impressive if the savings were to outweigh the cost over the life of the battery.
"slash your energy bill by 25%" (and your bank account 100%).

The refrigerator uses about 50kwhr per month or about 1.6kwhr per day. Each household is different depending on how often your big head is in and out.

i totally like the idea of charging the battery
during LOW usage times like at 3:am
then during Peak usage hours your running off the battery
instead of off the electric companies line ....(more $$)
i agree that there's so many questions like how LONG
before i get a return off my investment.
With new changes to layered Graphene sandwiched solar cells "almost daily"
(making them charge much faster) this technology will be a rapidly
changing scenario no matter What Elon Musk comes up with.

no Elon Is Saying that you charge the battery during the cheap priced electricity time
which is at 3 am .... you program it to charge it op on the cheap
and then you use the battery when the electricity is the most expensive
so as not to draw any power at all ...... when it's most expensive.
he's saying it cuts you bill by 3/4's
how they incorporate solar power
is it's only charging the battery
don't know if they have a package deal.
3d printers started out at what? 10 grand
now they can be bought for $1000.00

Electric companies will just charge you peak rates once you install one and then youre back at square 1, and now youve installed a tesla bomb in your home... Am i the only one who has seen all the pictures of burning tesla cars after accidents and lith battery go boom?

The trouble with solar energy in NE: Nov, Dec, Jan + snow!  no battery will even fully charge plus useage so never totally grid free.

I do! But even working to max in those months, the panels produce <10% of my monthly useage. Sun angle is too low in the sky and days too short. |

yeah but the "NEW" solar cells can receive available light not so much direct SUN.....
from any ANGLE AND the new cells they are making are stackable
so that 10% should be able to be ramped up MUCH higher than that!
maybe your unit is outdated ...dunno
been looking at places to BUY that have NO POWER except for a generator
and if the COST of paying an electric company to run lines and put in poles
is more than the TESLA Battery than i'd choose the tesla battery
any day of the week.... |
