The end of August / 1st of September has been the fall run for the last 6 -7 years ............
IMO you,ll catch more large from shore starting in about a week than you,ll ever catch in the FALL run in October ><>

Times & fish change .some fisherman don,t

ENJOY WHAT YOU HAVE !!!

Truer words have never been spoken. Been crushing fairly regularly and I'm not even trying hard.

Domination takes full concentration..

Ditto. In 1994 my log book shows I was crushing "large" at Balston starting on Aug 16, and actually all of the Back and everyone else was saying they couldn't wait for the Fall run. It starts way earlier than everyone realizes.

No boat, back in the suds.

pho·to·troph·ic

/ˌfōtəˈträfik/

adjective
Biology

adjective: phototrophic

(of an organism) obtaining energy from sunlight to synthesize organic compounds for nutrition.

Stripers are phototrophic. They sense less daylight which translates to less time to synthesize food to get energy. So as the amount of daylight decreases they head South for longer days and more time to obtain energy.

No doubt. Fall run starts around 3rd week of August on average south shore mass last 10+ years. It's all about the light and not so much water temp.

If anyone is willing to share some shore intel, I'd love to get Tyler into some Albies or Bones from shore. Location doesn't matter , I'll drive .
I'll add I've never caught either species, so I know nothing..

Does your incessant whining make you feel better? How about you just shut the hell up and suck it up? It's a fishing forum , so please just stop.

It seems the run always starts on the last big moon phase of the month, but this year it happened on the new moon, mid-month. Had a 4 night stretch that was some of the best fishing from the surf I've had in 5 years. 5 fish over 30#s and many fish in the mid to high 20s in the last 2 weeks, in multiple states. I'll take it!

This is a felony, because it is over $250.00! Someone has to step forward as the victim andbfile a complaint at the P.D. in whose town the check was accepted as payment. Well-worth doing. Should not just drop it. What is his full name, and where is his FB pic?

ummm , wrong thread Frank

The United States Constitution does not exist to grant you rights; those rights are inherent within you. Rather it exists to frame a limited government so that those natural rights can be exercised freely.

1984 was a warning, not a guidebook!

It's time more people spoke up with the truth. Every time we let a leftist lie go uncorrected, the commies get stronger.

Grrrr...

Saturday and Monday made for some very frustrating (but fun?) shore fishing. VERY picky bones with some Albies mixed in, run and gun boat guys, wind (y'day), weeds, and worst of all those few boats that would get between you and the pods only 20 yards off the rocks. So close you couldn't cast. 5 or 6 asshats Saturday, down to 2 on Monday. I had visions of razor blade studded 2oz pyramid sinkers... For their lines, not the actual captains.

Maybe time to make a switch to waters closer to home. Won't be so difficult to get to work on time, either. I do know I won't be 'down there' this holiday weekend.

I am hoping to head south either Wednesday or Thursday to get an albie fix.... Any reports for general areas that were hot this weekend? Could be catching a ride with Chris and am just as excited about checking out the Onslow Bay!

Chris will find them.
They have been in my area, midcape, last 2 weeks. Got half a dozen yesterday real early in the boat, nice and calm. They got them off the beach today with the SW wind honking all day. Good luck.

Fished Saturday morning/afternoon in RI. Had one shot at some sort of funny fish but got no love. Saw some serious running and gunning going on. I would have lost my marbles had i been in a boat. I also saw some cheetos floating by which cracked me up.

Everything is better on the rocks.
