I would like to see stores that actually sell cheap waders and siwash hooks and those with feathers and bucktails. And the stores that have cheap waders like hodges.

Okay, a bit more seriously......
Better hours.....I know a lot of you fish at midnight, but I've always been an early morning (3-4 AM) guy thru sun-up.....
And I always try to plan ahead, cause up here in NE at least, most shops don't open till after I'm DONE....which is okay, if I'm jigging the canal or throwing plugs elsewhere.....I can easily plan ahead for that.
But since I STILL have that little bit of chunking in my heart and soul, and I live in Foxboro, which is at least a good half hour from a decent bait shop (though now I hear of one in Norton), it's not easy to plan to get fresh chunk bait ahead of time.
When I go to Jersey, (granted, where I go is a shore town), most of the B&T's open at about 4 AM.....always been that way....I remember stopping with Charlie (Pop) at a B&T at 4:30 in the morning back in the 60's.....and where I go down there now, it's the same still today.....in fact, at times, they are open 24 hours......
Oh, the other thing about Jersey shore tackle shops....they all have grills for that breakfast sandwich/and or coffee you might want.......pork roll, egg and cheese to go, please..... ..okay, okay, you New England guys have no clue about pork roll...... , um, your loss......

That's what I'm talkin' about Steve! Had exactly that a week ago in Seaside....."Hey buddy, can I get a dozen clams and a pork roll, egg and cheese on a bun? Thanks." I bet ya miss the smell and taste of that Case or Taylor hickory smoked pork way up there in Mass, huh? Mmmmmmmm succulent stuff. Couldn't ya just go for a 3 lb roll of it right now? Is your mouth watering for it, Steve? (This is mean , huh? OK, I'll stop.)
What could I go for in a tackle shop? A road map. At a good one usually there's so much there I get overwhelmed, forget what I came in for and leave with what I don't need. Oh yes, and I like the suggestion about chicks clad only in waders cheerfully waiting for me to come in at 5:00AM for bait.

I think Washrat is talking about "product" .
How about the stuff that the meatheads over at Berkely are pulling from the shelves: 6500CL / CS Mag / Nautil (unless there is a redesign coming).
Good line choice seems tough for conventionals unless you go to a higher end shop.
How about rules & regs in many languages and notices for people to pitch their trash in a receptackle, and bags with the shop's name on it so we can see where the knuckleheads are buying their stuff - Oh Yeh, product...
I'm actually fairly well stocked on what I need and I'm able to find it (usually) in the shops I frequent. Maybe some of the popular surf stuff that no longer hets bought, like those Blurple Bombers that the Saltwater Edge had to order...

Taylor ham is good!!!..... ...
But back on track....
I saw two posts about an eel machine....just wondering.....just how do you propose that to work?
I mean, I've seen places with bait machines......sand worms, night crawlers, etc. work okay....Chunks, well, from what I hear (never bought chunks from them myself), you get a few measly, sorry looking chunks of pogey or mack, for a whole lot of money....
Eels......since they need to be kept alive in eel tanks.........
Okay, unless it's just a dream............

Damn.....the engineer in me is coming out......what if?..... .......you got some sort of vacuum system that went inside the shop into the eel tank.....outside, you put your money in the slot, and this vacuum hose searched around the tank, sucked up a live eel, and delivered it out a chute.....of course, ya would also probably get a good soaking from the water it sucked up and delivered to you as well....
Hey, I'm an umemployed engineer......but somehow, I think if I designed it and came up with a patent, I'd still be poor..... ....

Eels would be nice, but I'd settle for some fat sandworms at 4am to support my tube-n-worm addiction.

Well, during the Fall Run, it would be nice to have all-nite tackle shops.
I remember the Red Drum B&T down in Buxton, NC being open 24/7 starting in April. Busy, too, by most accounts! I bought my first Abu 7500C3CT at 3 in the morning or something like that.

Ahemmm. Family Friendly site please.. we have youngsters here...
Steve, if an eel wants to get out, chances are....
Actually, Weekapaug had a good idea, outdoor lockers, if you are a regular, reserve a locker and if you need eels, call 'em. If you need a SuperStrike, call 'em. Shop might be closed but your stuff will be waiting..

Hmmm..yes longer hours would be nice BUT realistically ...I am sure its a tough thing to do....
More shops with coffee, coffee , coffee.....and yes we would pay good money for it!
I always thought it would be cool to have a "fishermans hotel" out back......you know rent a bunk to crash in for a few in between fishing! (I know its stupid but how many times have you wished you had a warm bed instead of the back of your sand sled???)
